This doll wears the folk costume of Mezokovesd, Borsod County.  The unique headdress with pompoms is worn by married women.

An all celluloid doll, probably from the 1930’s. This doll wears the costume of Kyjov, in southeastern Moravia, one of the most beautiful folk costumes of the Czech Republic. Aprons and caps are very elaborate. Traditionally, the beaded cap is completely covered by a red headscarf!

The small tag on the front of this doll bears the word Istria.  Istria is a region along the border between Italy and Croatia.  Trieste is an Italian city in this area.
